There was a disturbing article in today’s N.Y. Times (7/12/10). Terrorist bombs exploded in crowds of people gathered to watch the World Cup Soccer finals in Uganda. 50 people were killed. This is nothing other than evil.
Please take time today to pray for those who died and were injured. And pray for peace. This world knows too much of violence anger and hate.
There is a movement started which is calling for people of faith to pray for this nation. The intention is that people from across the country will pray for a few minutes at 9:00 PM for this nation and it’s leaders. To pray for wisdom, and guidance, vision and protection.
It is in the best traditions of prayer. As Christians, our prayer should not be a kind of crusader’s prayer for a place of privilege and status, but a prayer that we might embrace the vision of a compassionate servant people.
Let us add to that the same prayers for every nation. Let us pray with intensity for that day in which swords will be beat into plowshares, and spears into pruning hooks, and in which nation will not rise up against nation, and they will not study war any more (Isa. 2:1-4). – Pastor Bill
